McCain vs Obama: Economics & Free Trade

August 28th, 2008 · 4 Comments

NEPAConservative has graciously given me the ability to add new posts to NepaLibwatch so for my first ever entry I thought I would provide what I believe to be a very revealing difference in the two candidates.

It has been written by Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman that “Economists often do disagree, but that has not been true with respect to free trade and international trade. Ever since Adam Smith there has been virtual unanimity among economists, whatever their ideological position on other issues, that international free trade is in the best interests of trading countries and of the world.”

The graphs below track the career votes of both candidates and their record with respect to free trade.

John McCains record on FREE TRADE

John McCain's record on FREE TRADE

Barack Obamas record on FREE TRADE

Barack Obama's record on FREE TRADE

As can been seen above John McCain has been a strong supporter of free trade and Barack Obama has not. In fact they are near polar opposites. John McCain has been one of the strongest supporters of free trade in the entire House or Senate while Obama has been the exact opposite.

Economic Scholars recognize that open markets mean wider choices and lower prices for businesses and consumers, as well as more vigorous competition that encourages greater productivity. The case for free trade goes beyond economic efficiency. The freedom to trade is a basic human liberty, and its exercise across political borders unites people in peaceful cooperation and mutual prosperity.

To add additional thoughts from Milton Friedman on this topic he wrote “Few measures that we could take would do more to promote the cause of freedom at home and abroad than complete free trade. Instead of making grants to foreign governments in the name of economic aid–thereby promoting socialism–while at the same time imposing restrictions on the products they produce–thereby hindering free enterprise–we could assume a consistent and principled stance. We could say to the rest of the world: We believe in freedom and intend to practice it. We cannot force you to be free. But we can offer full cooperation on equal terms to all. Our market is open to you without tariffs or other restrictions. Sell here what you can and wish to. Buy whatever you can and wish to. In that way cooperation among individuals can be worldwide and free.”

The historic evidence for free trade is obvious and the per capita income and wealth of the citizens of those countries that allow it is undeniable. I will add that I do have problems with some of the things that John McCain supports (Global warming myths, etc.) but when it comes to an issue like this that will have such a profound effect on my families well being the choice is obvious. My goal here was to expose the records of both Presidential candidates so you are better armed to make the right decision and communicate this to others.

Classy Liberals talk to FOXNEWS.

August 25th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Nazi trash Recreate68 is clearly in Denver to cause problems at the DNC convention.  Watch FOXNEWS correspondent Griff Jenkins try to interview some of the antiwar protesters as they erupt into a pot fueled chant : F*** FOXNEWS.

It’s amazing how the trash in the above video is all about freedom of speech until it doesn’t fit their socialist agenda.  It’s clear they are there to ONLY shout down anyone with a balanced approach to the political scene.  Their opinion is the only opinion.

Cindy Sheehan talks to Anarchists at the Recreate68 rally.

Anti-War protester covers face like Islamic terrorist.

On the Internet, no one can smell your B.O.

Turns out neither Obama or the Catholic Church haven’t got a clue when life begins. It’s a very grey area. Well, that’s according to Speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosi.  Some how I knew Mamma Nancy would out do Obama’s  “above my pay grade”  answer.  More phony god talk from the left !!!

Is Biden too old for Veep job ?

August 24th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Since the begining John McCain has been hounded by the liberal media about his age.  He’s senile, out of touch, too old, No country for old men.  72 years young I say !  These age discriminatory comments hopefully will come back to haunt the Democrats in their pursuit of turning this country into a socialist playground with their selection of Joe Biden for VP.

Biden is 6 years younger than McCain, so what exactly is the cutoff for being too old for this job ?  I think what’s more behind this liberal sentiment is “old republicans.”  Liberals certainly don’t have any problems with a senile 90 year old Jimmy Carter going over and making love to the tomb of Yasser Arafat and then disrespecting our country while hanging out with the terrorists.

So I guess the question is fair game.  Why is McCain too old and Joe Biden isn’t ?

If it’s a question of health…which I’m sure it will turn into, Biden has had through 2 surgeries to correct an an aneurysm in an artery that supplies blood to the right side of the brain. So making some assumptions here, who’s next in line if something were to happen to Barack and Biden ?  President Pelosi ?!?!

One other interesting fact to note is the Democrats have 10 Senators above the age of 70. Are they also too old to serve ?

Does Obama really want to pick Joe Biden ?!?!

August 23rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

CNN tonight is saying it’s Joe Biden… If you don’t know who Joe Biden is let me give you a few infamous quotes.

Joe Biden quotes:

”I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”  - About Barack

“The only guy on the other side who’s qualified is John McCain.”

“John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend, and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off, be well off no matter who…”

“the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean.”- About Barack

And of course who can forget this one !!!

“In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

Get your popcorn quick folks, this is going to be too much fun !!!

NEPAConservative says: Biden has said so many stupid things, I hope this CNN report is correct.

Today’s BO headline: Barack Obama’s ‘lost’ brother found in Kenya !

The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate’s half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.

“No-one knows who I am,” he told the magazine, before claiming: “I live here on less than a dollar a month.”

Now I’m not suggesting that Barry owes this guy anything but reading through the story, ya think he’d at least offer this guy a hand.  The article talks about how hard George Obama’s life has been.  Also mentions how a few of his friends were killed by police and how he is good with his fists.

“Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don’t even arrest you they just shoot you. “I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists.”

George said he met up with Barack only twice the last time was in 2006.  When they met in  2006 George says “It was very brief, we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger.”

Lucky for his millionaire brother Barack, George wants not.  He lives on $1 per day.  I guess liberal blood isn’t thicker than water.  (figuratively speaking)

George and Barack also have something else in common, George Hussein Obama is also Christian…wink wink.

Freeper WL-law makes an interesting observation:

Well, well. Let’s see what Obama said just last week in the theological discussion with Mr. Warren:

When asked what America’s greatest moral failing was, theological Obama said it was our collective failure to “abide by that basic precept in (the Book of) Matthew that whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.

So — now we’ve found the ‘least’ of Obama’s actual brothers, and — Obama’s done absolutely NOTHING for him.

Wind Gap shakes Wal-Mart gets nice metal-shredding plant instead.

August 19th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Found this little jewel on Boortz.com

Boortz: “Residents in one town protested the building of a Wal-Mart to the point where the plans finally fell through. Now instead of the Wal-Mart they got a noisy recycling plant, which they hate even more. Gotta love it.”
————————————

Walt Neidlinger spent years trying to keep a Wal-Mart-anchored shopping complex from being built near his Wind Gap home.

The traffic would have been suffocating for their little community, neighbors argued, so when the massive retailer and its partners packed up their plans and left PlainfieldTownship last year, Neidlinger was ecstatic. He figured he’d wait for the next plan to come along and remembers thinking, ”What could be worse than Wal-Mart?”

Over the past year, Neidlinger says, he’s gotten an answer: RPM Recycling — the metal-shredding plant on the same land — causes daily noise that sounds like a freight train rumbling down the street, and frequent explosions that shake his walls.

Gender Identity, what the @%$ does that mean !?!?

August 19th, 2008 · 8 Comments

Democrat family values coming soon to a neighborhood near you !!!

Washington, DC - Today, the National Stonewall Democrats applauded the Obama campaign and Democratic advocates for proposing the most sweeping pro-LGBT national platform in Democratic Party history. The Democratic National Committee has now released the platform that will be proposed to delegates in Denver. For the first time in party history, the Democratic National Platform calls on Democrats to enact policy which opposes discrimination on the basis of gender identity - a key provision advocated by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Democrats.

“For the first time, the 2008 Democratic platform includes everyone in our community, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” said Jon Hoadley, Executive Director of the Stonewall Democrats. “The Democratic Party is now standing with the majority of LGBT Americans in our belief that advancing pro-equality policy means comprehensive protections for our entire community.”
