The best fireworks show in the world !

July 6th, 2008 · 7 Comments

I just spent the weekend 1 mile away from arguably the best fireworks display in NEPA.  However being a “local” and not wanting to deal with the out of state tourists we went to get our own.  So it was off to the  sate sanctioned LEGAL fireworks tent. That’s right, we dropped 50 big ones at the tent.  I know that’s not much, but it would be something the kiddies would enjoy.

Fast forward 5 hours.  It’s time !!!  Oh the excitement, the joy, the pure bliss of lighting that punk and touching it against the fuse of the firework…Aughh the smell of Potassium perchlorate, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate and just a touch of Dextrin….mmmmmmm.

Happy Happy Happy, Joy Joy Joy !

Half way through one thing occurred to me, yes the kiddies were having fun, but these fireworks were lacking something. Oh what was it they were lacking ??? Oh yes, about 50 pounds of BOOM !!!

Lets be honest, at one time or another everyone had a real firework in their possession, these tent fire works are sleepers.  The best part is they all end up doing the same exact thing.  Snap crackle and pop.  I need an M80,  I need a cake, an artillery shell…something, anything !!!  But no, you see the sad reality is our liberal PA government has done their best to protect us from ourselves again.  NO FIREWORKS FOR YOU !

So I ask the question, aren’t we sick of sneaking around to buy REAL fireworks ?  Should you feel like a criminals trying to properly celebrate the countries independence ?  Did you ever wonder why the great Democrat governing body in PA made it so that, out of state residence can buy fire works IN PA but PA residence can’t ?

Would they rather us celebrate like the Anti-American liberal mimes down at state college ?
In 2004, state lawmakers changed the law to allow retailers to sell banned items to out-of-state residents. Cough, cough, bullshit, cough ehhhemmmm.   Excuse me.  “Pennsylvania residents can buy and possess only fireworks that stay on the ground and sparkle.”  Oh yippeee, thanks State law makers, you are so smart and all knowing. Lousy Democrats !!!

Did you know…it’s against the law to bring back banned fireworks from other states ? Even though those same products are sold down at the corner store to somebody from a different state.  Does anyone see a problem here ???

Anyway, I hope everyone had a Great 4th of July celebration, smoke bombs, sparklers and all.  Below are some links that go into PA law a bit more than I care to write about.

BTW, I’ve single handily increased everyones carbon foot print for the year. Free of charge. My street is now known as Smoke Bomb Alley !

Some of the best ones, are the ones that shoot up in the air with all these flashing and crackling things going off, explode about 50 feet in the air, and land somewhere in the city of Wilkes-Barre.

At least about 90% of the materials leftover are biodegradable ! The other 10% make a nice green flame in my fire pit.

Yes, I drove out of state and paid as much for a cake that went up pretty far into the air as people sent for the fake cakes at the local tent. We had a fairly awesome display (we pooled our fireworks). Even managed to PO a neighbor.

Although it truly sucks that we HAVE to go out of state for the good fireworks, at least there is no FEDERAL law regulating them.

And yes, we had a sizeable carbon footprint and didn’t buy any carbon credits.

Sizeable carbon footprint I’ll say. I hope when you drove out of state it was in a Ford Excursion. Nice ! I can just about taste the gas and smoke from your holiday…lol ! Keep up the good work.
